Navigating Through Fear

Facing fear, uncertainty, and doubt—often referred to as FUD—is a deeply human experience, which we all go through. How can we find practical and powerful ways to find trust, peace and groundedness through our faith? A Monday morning reset devotional focused on replacing Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt (FUD) with divine power, love, and a sound mind through active trust in God.

Here is how leaning into God can help you navigate these feelings in your daily life.
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."

Navigating through Fear
1. Through His Divine Presence and Love
Fear often stems from feeling alone or overwhelmed. God makes His presence known through scripture—focusing on His capacity as the "creator" rather than our limitations as the "created"—and through "human angels" sent to comfort and support us. As the Bible reminds us: "Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." These truths serve as perpetual reminders of our power drawn from Him.
2. Through Surrendering Uncertainty
Uncertainty comes from trying to control or predict a future that isn't here yet. When we look at how a pet rests without worry because it trusts its master to provide, we learn what true trust means: giving up the need to know every outcome and focusing on the single step in front of you.
3. Through Practicing Gratitude
Gratitude shifts our focus from what is unknown in the future to what God has already faithfully provided in the present. Reflecting on our speech, we are reminded that God gave us mouths to praise, thank, and ask for our needs, rather than to curse or complain.
4. ThroughHealing Our Doubt through Action
Doubt is not the opposite of faith; often, it is an invitation to seek deeper understanding. Action cures the paralysis of doubt. Consider Noah, who built the Ark over 75 to 120 years and drifted for 150 days in a boat without propulsion, navigation, or guaranteed timelines. Noah had to totally depend upon God, proving that in seasons of waiting, we must look to Him for direction and trust in His breakthrough.
