In 2 Corinthians 1:19–20, the Apostle Paul answers that question directly by pointing to the unchanging character of Jesus Christ.
"For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us—by me and Silas and Timothy—was not 'Yes' and 'No,' but in Him it has always been 'Yes.' For no matter how many promises God has made, they are 'Yes' in Christ. And so through Him the 'Amen' is spoken by us to the glory of God."
— 2 Corinthians 1:19–20
The Context: Paul wrote this epistle to a Corinthian church struggling with misunderstandings, internal conflict, and doubts about apostolic authority. To reassure them, Paul pointed past human instability to the absolute reliability of the Gospel.
Jesus is God’s "Yes": God does not hesitate or break His word. Every divine promise—whether of peace, provision, salvation, or guidance—finds its ultimate guarantee and fulfillment in the person and work of Jesus.
Whether you are navigating a season of uncertainty or seeking to deepen your daily walk, remember that God’s word toward you is never dynamic or uncertain. In Christ, every single promise is an unwavering "Yes." Let your heart respond today with a bold and living "Amen" to His glory.
Our Living "Amen": "Amen" means so be it or it is true. When we trust Christ, our lives become an active "Amen" back to God, affirming His trustworthiness to the world.
Daily Application
1. Anchor Your Trust in God’s Character: Circumstances change, but God’s promises do not shift with your circumstances. Rest in the knowledge that His commitments are settled.
2. Lean into the Grace of Christ: You don't have to earn access to God’s promises through personal perfection. Because you are in Christ, His "Yes" is already given to you.
3. Turn Agreement into Action: Saying "Amen" is more than a spoken word at the end of a prayer; it is a commitment to live out your faith with confidence, turning doubt into courageous action.
